Building Stronger Communities
Our mission is to build strong communities by partnering with local organizations and community partners that provide education, mentoring, and support services in underserved communities.
We believe that we can change the world one neighborhood at a time by working with community leaders to create projects that enrich our society, tackling difficult issues in communities around the world.
Since 1983, Pomona Neighborhood Center Inc. (PNC Cares) has persistently provided resources to underserved communities in Greater Los Angeles. Since our new leadership we are striving to spread our services to Los Angeles County and San Gabriel Valley as well. PNC Cares has provided numerous programs such as our Winter Shelter Program, Client Advocacy Program, food and clothing pantry, and mailboxes.
Our founder, Dorothy Kumar, was transferred to Pomona In the late 60's to work on an to fight poverty. In 1972, the program was defunded. She along with a hand full of workers for that initiative decided to continue their plight to fight poverty in Pomona feeding hundreds of families each year. In 1983, they decided to incorporate becoming the Pomona Neighborhood Center Inc.
We continue are committed to continuing this legacy by empowering community leaders working in the trenches to keep building better communities worldwide.
